Nile cruise by enchanting “sandal” boat
The sandal is a small boat, 16 to 24 metres in length, originally used for transporting stone. Today it has become a pleasure vessel for taking trips that are both enchanting and comfortable, from which you can discover the sites of Egypt. You will find on the sandal small, comfortable cabins, a living area, and a huge deck, semi-covered and with a canvas for sheltering from the sun. Candle-light dinners will be an unforgettable delight…

Programme:

Nile cruise by enchanting “sandal” boat
Day 1: Arrival in Luxor and reception by our local team. Complementary dinner and overnight stay in a hotel.

Day 2: Departure in the early hours of the morning for Karnak (which lies north of Luxor): visit to Egypt’s largest temple. Departure for Edfu (100km) where your boat awaits, and boarding. The afternoon is devoted to a temple visit to Edfu (100 km). Return to the boat and departure of the sandal for a neighbouring island. Dinner and overnight aboard.

Days 3 to 5: On a journey of more than three days length, you will discover the countryside of the Nile: a kaleidoscope of small villages, palm trees, and small beaches… from time to time a stop for a pleasant stroll allowing you to meet the Nubians… you will dine by candle-light on the boat’s bridge or in the dining area and always accompanied by the lyrical ambience of the felucca.
During the course of this cruise you will visit the Daraw animal market (which sells camels from the Sudan), the quarries of Silsilla (sandstone used in construction of the temples), and then Kom-Ombo.
