Sahara Trek : The Dream of Essendilene
This trek, suitable for all ages and types of travelers, through the splendid terrain of the Sahara, is an ideal introduction to the wonders of the desert.
This is a trek of 95 kilometers, to the southeast of Essendilene in the direction of Djanet, crossing magnificent valleys; whether transporting your baggage by 4 x 4, or in the company of our caravan of camels, the change of scenery is complete and total.

- Difficulty of trek accessible to anybody, even done by families with children of four years
Very little of the trip done by 4 x 4 .
- Possibility to do the trek with bags carried by camels.
- Ideal as an introduction to trekking in the desert, and especially traveling with camels
- Visit to the deserted Oasis of Essendilene, the canyon and guelta (natural water reserve)
- Passage via Tikoubaene, Tillelene, view of the erg Admer and its infinite dunes, Tisras
Our Program
D1 Paris-Djanet, reception at the Djanet airport by the English-speaking guide. After the official paperwork in Djanet for the visit to the Tassili National Park (UNESCO reserve), immediate transfer to the Valley of Essendilene to the north of Djanet (100km), the place where we meet up with our local team, the camel-drivers and their camels, the cook and the joy of a first night in a bivouac.
D2 Departure of the trekkers with our Touareg guide, we make our way to the deserted oasis of Essendilene, its magnificent canyon and its guelta, bivouacking at l’Oued Hell.
D3 Arrival at Tikoubaene across a grandiose décor: shattered rocks, rocky sandstone outcrops, deep canyons, inaccessible gueltas… bivouac at night
D4 Tillelene: Nothing now but rocky sandstone outcrops, castles of stone, arches emerging from waves of sand; bivouac at night
D5 We arrive at Tiharamiouene, with a superb view of the Erg Admer and its infinite dunes; bivouac at night
D6 Tisras, where we will be struck dumb in wonder at this marvelous labyrinth of rock and sand; bivouac at night
D7 Arrival at Djanet, visit to the town, its market with its cloths, its gardens and its blacksmiths, and the hammam (baths), bivouac near the “Cow Who Weeps,” celebrated stone engraving from 3000 BC
D8 Transfer to the airport after breakfast, or lunch, depending on flight time
